Saskatoon, Canada - January 23, 2018 /PressCable/ —

In the midst of the frozen winter, many Saskatchewan residents are flocking to warmer pastures in their RVs and trailers. Yet for many, the snowbird lifestyle is financially out of reach—especially as the bulk of snowbirds are retired pensioners.

In a recent blog post, TG Daily detailed the ways in which aspiring RV-ers can live the lifestyle while saving money. Most of the tips on the list hold weight, but the first suggests that travellers rent their RVs instead of buying—while this is a solution for consumers looking to take the occasional weekend camping trip, this suggestion is not feasible for those wanting to spend the entirety of the winter months south of the border (the rental fees would be much more astronomical than purchasing new).

The solution to this is to encourage more consumers to instead search for a high-quality used travel trailer. Local RV expert Lardners Trailer Sales in Saskatoon recently discussed the financial implications of renting an RV compared to financing or purchasing a used model, with a spokesperson noting that “if people want to get the best value for their money and make a sound financial decision, purchasing used is the way to go. Much like the housing market, it gets dangerous when the cost of renting a trailer long-term exceeds the value and cost of a purchase, and in those cases the consumer is left with no asset in the end after spending that much money”.

Lardners and other Saskatoon-area dealerships offer a wide variety of used travel trailers so aspiring snowbirds can escape the frigid temperatures without breaking the bank.
