New Jersey Sports Finishes Year With All Time High $6,016,968,399 Wagering in 2020 on Sports Betting

Jan 13, 2021

World Sports Network reports that New Jersey has finished the 2020 calendar year with another strong showing on their sports betting handle. This latest report released today by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement marks the fifth month in a row of record setting handle figures with a total of $996,300,794 for the month and $6,016,968,399 for the calendar year.

ISELIN, N.J. - January 13, 2021 - (Newswire.com)

World Sports Network Editor Ioana Romanasu states: "New Jersey was one of the first states to allow betting on sports and to fire up its local sports betting industry. By getting into the game early, sports betting in New Jersey has stolen the lead on other states and in turn built up a more mature sports betting sector."

With the momentum currently enjoyed by the New Jersey sports betting industry, is it likely that any other states have a chance of catching up? The likely answer is yes but not for a long time coming. Large powerhouse states like New York and California are still far behind when it comes to legalizing sports betting and even after that day does come they will face the challenges that establishing a new industry in their states entails. It is likely that may take some time, but when it does happen New Jersey's state coffers will have been reaping the rewards for years.

More than half of hotels use AI to price rooms, but only 1 in 10 would rely on it for most decisions

More than half of hotels, 53%, now use artificial intelligence to help set room prices, but just 10% would trust it enough to make most pricing decisions on its own, according to new research from revenue management system company RoomPriceGenie. The findings come from RoomPriceGenie’s 2026 State of Revenue Management Report, based on a survey of 450 senior revenue decision-makers across the UK, US, Canada, Mexico, DACH, Spain, Australia and New Zealand. The research points to a revenue management industry that is growing more sophisticated, with clear opportunities for improvement around trust, time and expertise.
